Children are the world’s most valuable resource and the bridge to our future. However, for many children across Myanmar, poverty and a lack of social protection create barriers to their most basic needs: nutrition and education. When a child is malnourished or unable to attend school, it is not just their potential that is lost, but a piece of our future as well.
Recognizing this, the “We Care, We Share” initiative by Myanmar Plaza traveled to Thanlyin Township to support the Dhamika Yama Parirati-Shwe Kyin Monastic School.

A Sanctuary in Thanlyin
Located in Bagan Taung Village, this monastic school serves as a vital sanctuary for more than 250 underprivileged and orphaned children gathered from all corners of Myanmar. Under the compassionate guidance of the presiding monk, these children are provided with a safe place to live, daily meals, and a formal education.
The scale of this mission is immense. To sustain the children, the school requires:
• Two full bags of rice every single day.
• Approximately 300,000 Kyats per day to cover basic meal costs.
Because the school relies entirely on the kindness of donors to meet these daily expenses, consistent support is essential to keep their doors open and their students fed.

Our Contribution to Health and Learning
The “We Care, We Share” team arrived with a mission to support both the bodies and the minds of these young students. Our donation focused on immediate nutritional needs and the essential tools required for the upcoming school year:
Nutritional Support:
• 10 Sacks of Rice: Providing the foundation for thousands of meals.
• 20 Liters of Cooking Oil: An essential staple for the school kitchen.
• Dried Food & Snacks: Supplementary nutrition for the children’s daily diet.
• Special Meal Donation: We were honored to sponsor a full day of nutritious meals for all 250+ students.
Educational & Financial Support:
• Books and Stationery: Providing the pens, pencils, and notebooks necessary for the children to pursue their studies.
• Financial Aid: A dedicated monetary donation to assist with the school’s long-term educational funds and administrative costs.

Protecting Our Greatest Resource
Seeing the energy and potential of the children at Dhamika Yama reminds us why we do this work. A safe environment and a full stomach are the minimum requirements for a child to dream big.
“We shall keep working in the hopes that our support will help maintain a safe, stable environment where these children can grow, learn, and eventually lead. Their future is our future.”
At HAGL Myanmar, we are committed to being regular allies for institutions like the Dhamika Yama Monastic School, ensuring that the light of education never goes out for those who need it most.
