In honor of World Blood Donor Day, a collaborative charity blood donation drive organized by “We Care, We Share” by HAGL Myanmar and Meliá Yangon was held successfully on June 3rd at the Meliá Yangon hotel’s Inya Ballroom. Continuing a proud annual tradition with the theme “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation,” 300 people, including dedicated staff and generous donors, came forward to participate.
A Lifeline for Regional Healthcare
Organized in close coordination with the National Blood Center, the drive directly addresses critical, immediate shortages in emergency blood supplies. To honor the selflessness of the contributors, Meliá Yangon provided nutritious refreshments, while HAGL Myanmar distributed specialized nourishment to all donors.
While the immediate impact was felt at the Yangon National Blood Center, the overarching mission of the drive looks much further ahead—aiming to shift how society views blood donation.
Shifting from Reactive to Proactive Giving
The core philosophy of this year’s drive centers on sustainability and changing long-held habits. Speaking at the event, Ms. Zin Mar Thet Mon, Culture & Communication Manager of HAGL Myanmar, emphasized the importance of building a consistent, long-term donor network:
“This year’s theme is ‘Give Freely, Give Often.’ The idea is to encourage people to move away from the habit of donating blood only when there is an urgent need or when someone specifically requires it. Instead, we hope to promote regular blood donation every four months as a way of supporting the community while also fostering a positive and sustainable blood donation culture.”
A Sustainable Commitment to Community Welfare
By advocating for regular donation cycles every four months, HAGL Myanmar and Meliá Yangon are working to cultivate a healthier, more resilient society where voluntary blood donation is normalized rather than treated as a crisis-only response.
HAGL Myanmar and Meliá Yangon extend their deepest, most sincere gratitude to every donor and medical professional who participated. Through the “We Care, We Share” initiative, both organizations continue to prove that true corporate leadership extends far beyond business—it lies in fostering a sustainable culture of care.
