At HAGL Myanmar, our commitment to the community is driven by a simple yet powerful philosophy: We Care, We Share. As the peak of summer arrives, the UV index reaches its highest levels, creating challenging conditions for those whose livelihoods depend on working outdoors. On March 28th, our volunteer team took to the waterfront to support the resilient individuals navigating the scorching sun at the gateway between Dala and Yangon.
Direct Support for Over 150 Workers
During the event, HAGL Myanmar provided comprehensive care packages to over 130 boatmen and 20 trishaw drivers. Recognizing the dual challenge of physical health and economic pressure, the “We Care, We Share” team distributed items focused on both protection and nutrition:
• Sun Protection: Cotton shirts and hats designed to mitigate the impact of high UV exposure.
• Essential Provisions: Rations of rice and peanut oil.
• Protein Sustenance: A full carton of eggs for every recipient to assist with household food costs.
A Lasting Impact
While we know that a single afternoon cannot erase the challenges of the burning heat or the daily grind of physical labor, it is our hope that these gestures provide more than just material relief.
“Although the physical discomfort of the heat may only disappear for a short while, we hope that every time our friends at the jetty remember this day, it fills their hearts with a lasting sense of happiness and belonging.”
At HAGL Myanmar, we remain dedicated to standing by our community, sharing what we have, and caring for those who keep our city moving.
